Build usable scene assets from the point cloud already in Unreal. Open Collision & Mesh in CreativeTrack Alignment to add collision to selected actors or generate static meshes from selected actors or points.
This is separate from Fast Mesh and High Quality Mesh, which reconstruct footage using the saved camera solve.
Add collision
- Use Object to select the point-cloud actors.
- Set Collision Max Error (cm).
- Click Add Collision.
Collision Max Error (cm) defaults to 0 and accepts 0–65536. It supplies the LiDAR collision operation’s maximum-error setting. Inspect collision where objects need to interact with the scene.
Select Remove Collision to remove it from the selected actors. Both commands require actor selection; individual points alone do not enable them.
Create a static mesh
Select complete point-cloud actors or choose a region with a point-selection tool, then set the mesh options:
| Control | Default | Use |
|---|---|---|
| Meshing Max Error (cm) | 0 | Maximum error passed to LiDAR meshing. Accepts 0–65536. |
| Merge Meshes | On | Create combined mesh output. |
| Retain Transform | Off | Keep transforms for separate output. Available only with Merge Meshes off. |
Click Create Static Mesh and complete any Unreal asset dialog. The tool needs selected points or point-cloud actors. If you cancel the dialog, check the assets rather than assuming a mesh was created from the completion status alone.
Check geometry and collision
Inspect the mesh against the source cloud. Look for unwanted background or disconnected regions in the selection, and check the resulting position. Review collision separately from the visible surface.
For separate meshes, turn Merge Meshes off before setting Retain Transform. That option is unavailable for merged output.
Save the assets and level after checking them. Use selection and visibility tools to isolate a smaller region if the original cloud includes too much.
