Start in Resolve with the clip you want to cut out. Create a timeline for the shot, then head to the Deliver page and export the footage as PNG frames.
Render the shot as PNG frames
The setup used here is straightforward:
- Set a simple render filename for the shot, such as
main_shot - Create one folder for the source frames
- Create another folder for the processed output
- Choose PNG as the format
- Use padded frame numbers, such as
main_shot_0001.png
That last detail matters because the sequence has to come back into Resolve in the correct order. Once the render is queued, render the full sequence so every frame is saved as a separate PNG.

Keep the exported source frames and the processed output frames in separate folders. This makes it easier to point the Photoshop script at the correct input sequence and avoids mixing original frames with cutout frames.
